old greeny fringe festThe Old Greeny Fringe Fest is a week of weird, wacky and whimsical events in Ithaca, New York. In late April/early May the area around the waterfront trail hosts a variety of events at non-traditional venues, bars, and theatres and they are all within walking/biking distance from one another.
Our Fringe Fest is both a celebration of art/culture and an homage to Old Greeny, the cryptid of Cayuga Lake. We welcome local and national acts and encourage family-friendly activations throughout the festival week. |

Festival Details
Type of FestivalWe host indoor and outdoor events which include community art projects and activities. Performances and events are open access for free outdoor events, lottery for ticketed acts, and there is a series of curated, Old Greeny-themed events the Fringe Hub/Box Office.

AUDIENCEWe prioritize family-friends events during daylight hours and after-dark shows for adult audiences. Our evening audiences tends to be 30s an older.

Festival StatsThe Ithaca Fringe Festival ran from 2014-2018 with 6 shows over 4 days. OGFF, which started in 2026, is 7 days of events, with 10-20 individual shows with across 12 spaces. That majority of our venues are non-traditional spaces which seat 10-100 people.

Artist Information
How Artists are AcceptedOGFF includes curated Old Greeny-themed acts and other ticketed acts which are chosen by lottery.
We welcome open-access events that are non-ticketed during the daylight hours. To be accepted into the festival your event must meet certain criteria to be entered in the lottery. Details are included on our event website. |
Open Access & BYOVWe don't want to turn away any events that fit our event criteria, so there is an avenue for acts that are not curated or selected by lottery to be a part of the Fringe Fest.
1- You can perform at one of our two small outdoor stages. These are free events (you are welcome to collect donations) and they will be included in the official OGFF schedule. 2- You can BYOV and set up a ticketed event at a venue in town that is that is not on our list. To get your event included in the OGFF schedule there is a $100 advertising fee. Reach out to us for details. |
Cost & Profit$15 registration fee plus self-production costs for all events.
Housing may be available for out of town acts. All of box office proceeds are returned to the producing artists and some venues take up to 25% of ticket sales. |
Tech InformationTech support varies by venue.
Most events that perform multiple times during the festival will move between 2 venues, so your show should be adaptable and somewhat self-sufficient in terms of lighting and sound. At minimum we will have a spot light, house lights, and sound system for every venue. We will provide volunteers and techs for all venues that are part of the festival. |
Performance ScheduleThe performance schedule will be shared with artists and venues in mid February, 2026.
The majority of performances take place from Tuesday to Saturday of the festival week. Typical shows are 30-75 minutes, with a run of 1-4 performances. |
