Squeaky Wheel Fringe

First, let us thank you for your interest in being part of the 4th Edition of Squeaky Wheel Fringe! We are treading new ground in the Sarasota/Manatee area and introducing a new way to both participate in and enjoy performance art here as there aren't many platforms for original work locally.
Presently we are a small, single venue, adjudicated festival that can offer performances to 9 acts or artists. Four of those slots go to local artists and the other five to artists outside of our area, both national and international. Artists receive 100% of their base ticket price and will get at least two performances of their show.
Squeaky Wheel Theatre Group was created as an inclusive and accepting artistic environment that is unafraid to be loud, push boundaries, and challenge both artists and audiences alike. We appreciate your passion, moxie, and intrepidness and hope that you are able to join us on this journey!

We get audiences of all ages, but our area tends to lean a little older (The average age in Sarasota County is 57).

Festival Stats

Hollywood Fringe averages about 400 individual shows with 2,000 performances across nearly 50 spaces. 62,000 tickets were sold in 2024. 100% of box office proceeds are returned to the producing artists, thats over 5 million dollars since 2010!

How Artists are Accepted

Squeaky Wheel is Florida's only adjudicated Fringe Festival. Since presently we can only accept 9 acts, it allows for a well rounded festival and a chance to accept shows that the lottery gods may not have been kind to.

Benefits of Applying

Fringe Artists will receive 100% of the base ticket price they set for their show.
We provide a light and sound board operator as well as a production stage manager during Fringe week.
A full digital album of professional photographs of your show and use of any promotional (professional & amateur) photos or video of your show we take during Squeaky Wheel Fringe.

Tech Information

We have a single 160 seat venue at the Cook Theatre at the FSU Center for Performing Arts in Sarasota, FL.
The stage is a modified thrust and dimensions are approximately 34’x24’
It is fully outfitted for lighting and sound, but the venue does not allow wireless microphones.

Performance Schedule

It is at the discretion of the producer. Shows can run up to 60 minutes and each group will have at least two opportunities to perform.
