TUCSON FRINGE FESTIVAL

The Tucson Fringe Festival is an unjuried, uncensored performing arts festival. The festival does not curate or select the performances, maintaining an environment in which everyone and anyone can perform. This ensures that underrepresented artistic voices are championed in our community.

 Festival Overview

Type of Festival

We average 4 venues per year from warehouses to traditional theater spaces.

About our Audience

The majority of our audience is 55+ years old. Being in a college town, some of our audience and performers are often students from the University of Arizona.

2019 Festival Stats

All tickets are $10 with 100% of tickets sales returned to artists. Our attendance for last year (Jan 2019) was 650 attendees.

Artist Information

How Artists are Accepted

We literally draw names from a hat. Check our Facebook to see the live videos from each year.

Benefits of Applying

  • We do our best to provide housing if able. We give awards each year but we do not have a ceremony. When able, many shows are reviewed by local news outlets if they have more than one performance. We also offer artists an artist liaison. Someone local who speaks with one or two artists with questions such as the best local restaurants, places to advertise their show, etc... Many artists have praised us for this offer even if they didn't completely utilize it.

Costs and Deals

Our application fee is $15. If selected, the artists pay a registration fee between $150 to $285 depending on how many performances they want for the weekend. They receive 100% of tickets sales to their shows. The average payout is approximately $450.

Tech Information

We do not always have the same venues each year. We try to have one traditional theater space and several other repurposed spaces. We provide technical equipment when necessary.

Performance Schedule

Performers can choose one, two, or three performances during the weekend. All shows must be between 40 and 60 minutes. Performers are given 15 minutes before and after their show for load in and load out.

Other

We also offer other performances throughout the year including a Shakespeare themed bar crawl featuring performances from or inspired by Shakespeare every April.

DOWNTOWN TUCSON, ARIZONA

Tucson is a mecca for arts and culture. It's worth visiting once in a lifetime if not more often.
